Keira and Sam were married in May 2021. They were unworried about the current Covid-19 restrictions as they had always planned a small, intimate wedding. The couple, as well as all of their family and friends, live in Worthing, but had chosen the Island for their wedding as it was where Sam had proposed.
Michael & Kaori were married during the ‘fifteen only’ phase of Covid weddings. They had their ceremony privately at the Isle of Wight registry office and celebrated with family at The Hambrough Hotel in Ventnor.
Tim and Amy always planned two weddings. A tiny registry office ceremony, with a huge party and humanist ceremony the next day. Therefore, when Covid-19 disrupted their plans for wedding two, wedding one was still a go!
Pam & Jon’s wedding took place under a the cloud of 2020’s Covid-19 restrictions. They had decided early on in the year that they wanted to go ahead with their nuptials regardless. Nevertheless the days preceding the wedding were on a knife edge, with the rules set to change again at any time. Fortunately, Pam & Jon’s wedding was able to go ahead with a maximum of 30 people in attendance.
Joe and Amber held their wedding on the 14th March 2020, 9 days before the UK locked down due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It was consequently (at least so far) my only wedding of 2020. Although family and guests were aware of the potential of lockdown (I remember a family member hoping they wouldn’t be locked down on the Isle of Wight) everyone at the wedding had a completely wonderful time.
On their wedding day, Jenna had her bridal preparations at a property within the gardens themselves. Her family and bridal party gathered around and we took photos as they walked past greenhouses and through tunnels of overhanging plants. The ceremony took place in a pagoda in the New Zealand Garden.
Stephen and Julian’s wedding followed an unusual timeline which suited the day perfectly. The couple walked down to Appuldurcombe House from their adjoining accommodation together. They were greeted their guests at a drinks reception on the lawn. Their wedding breakfast was served in the main hall before their ceremony took place.
Nicole and Steve’s wedding took place on the hottest day of the year. Fortunately a great deal of the day, including the ceremony was in a wooded glade, blessed with shade and dappled light. The bridal party, having prepared at the home of one of the bridesmaids, travelled to site by tractor and trailer.
Emma & Gareth had their legal ceremony quietly before their big day with just close family in attendance. This allowed them to hold their wedding in a field adjoining the beautiful Wolverton Manor. The ceremony was conducted by Jenni from Island Celebrants and took place under a corn-flower blue sky.
