Around Town
Ventnor Fringe Festival takes place every August. The little seaside town of Ventnor becomes a vibrant, buzzing place. Music pours out from venues all over town, from the Harbourside Bar on the seafront, to Parkside high above. We have seen Shakespeare in the Botanic Gardens, up and coming bands in an Industrial Unit and a photography exhibition in a shipping container. As well as these attractions there are many tiny events in pop-up venues everywhere.
As we wandered the streets of the town taking photos we came across gigs happening in the Launderette, street magic and buskers. The tiny Errant Stage is in a shelter halfway down the hill to the beach. Jack and Mhairi started the Festival straight out of University and it has grown into one of the most respected Fringe Festivals in the Country. They later opened Ventnor Exchange to serve as an office and multi-use performance space all year round. Fringe is a fabulous time to be living and working in Ventnor.
