Fun at Lulworth Castle
Camp Bestival is an Internationally renowned family festival. Held each year at Lulworth Castle in Dorset, it is curated by Josie & Rob da Bank, of Bestival fame. The entire site is a kids delight. Everyone is catered for, Mr Tumble entertains the tiny ones whilst teens are treated to the world’s coolest youth club in the Bollywood Tent. A world class line-up on the Castle Stage provides incredible entertainment for kids and grown-ups alike. At Camp Bestival everyone ‘Pimps their Trolleys’ and dads get dressed up, doing it for the kids, obviously!
The blend of nineties grown ups and their children can lead to some surreal moments, especially after dark. We watched Underworld performing Born Slippy, a song forever associated with the movie Trainspotting, surrounded by contented children drawing and snoozing in their mobile beds. The festival co-incides with the Perseid meteor shower and so the skies put on their own show. The end of the weekend is always marked by a magnificent, choreographed firework show over the castle.
