Yoga on the High-Seas

Brand new to the Island event scene in 2019, Awakening brought health and tranquility to our shores. Awakening Festival is the brainchild of Kate Taylor. Kate created this entire festival using her own particular brand of Practical Magic.

We were lucky enough to be involved in this project from the offset. Everyone set out in advance of the festival for a promo-shoot on the high seas courtesy of Wightlink Ferries. Some amazing women came along with us for a Yoga shoot on Deck, ending up on the bridge with the captain!

Connection

Kate describes The Awakening as ‘a festival of well-being, connection and self-care’. She opened the festival with a welcome ceremony on the front lawn. The gorgeous interior and grounds of Weston Manor House in Totland provided a perfect backdrop for an array of classes, workshops, talks and seminars. Guests at the  event were treated to nutritious vegan food and an indoor market. Classes and seminars included transcendental meditation and Qoya dance.

Between workshops many guests chose simply to relax on pillows and soft blankets in the golden sunshine. The weekend closed with a gorgeous poem read to the throbbing of the double bass in the lounge of the Manor House.
